PDP governors reconcile Anambra aspirants, appoint Ekwunife Campaign DG

Ahead of the November 6, 2021 governorship poll, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors, yesterday, reconciled the gubernatorial aspirants in Abuja.
They appointed Senator Uche Ekwunife as Director-General of the campaign for the election.

At a meeting of PDP governors and the National Working Committee (NWC), the party announced that the crisis that arose from June 26, 2021, primary election, which produced parallel candidates is over.

Ekwunife came third at the primary election after Valentine Ozigbo, emerged first followed by Obiora Okonkwo.

Speaking with journalists Adamawa State Governor, Umar Fintiri, who presided over the reconciliation committee, said that all aspirants had been reconciled.
“We carried out the directives of our governors and reconciled all the aggrieved aspirants and it was unanimously agreed that Ekwunife is appointed the campaign director.

With her appointment, the bid to recapture Anambra by the PDP will be successful; all aspirants have been reconciled.

Fintiri said Anambra State belonged to the PDP and this would be confirmed at the November 6 governorship election,” he said.

While accepting the appointment, Ekwunife, who restated her commitment to using her support base in ensuring PDP’s victory in the election.

Responding, Valentine Ozigbo said with the reconciliation, the PDP is set to assume power the state, stressing that Anambra had always been a PDP state with two senators and almost all the members of the state House of Assembly.

Ozigbo also pledged to meet other aspirants, who lost in the June primary election.
