•Don’t Succumb To New Contributory Pension Scheme.
Kogi Democratic Group KDG has alerted Kogi workers not to be swayed by the constitution of committee on Contributory Pension scheme, as it is only an avenue to borrow money from PENCOM by the state government.
A statement issued by the body and signed by Abdul Abdul warned the labour leaders in the state to be wary of efforts of the state government to shortchange workers through the new scheme, saying government must abide by the laws guiding the new scheme and it’s workability at the Federal level.
The group says deduction from the percentage salaries of workers been paid by the State Government will not augur well in enrolling them into the scheme.
He says workers are supposed to pay 7.5% from their monthly salaries while state will pay 7.5% making it 15% from both end, saying the willingness of the government depends on fulfilling their own part of the agreement.
He decried the continuous payment of percentage salaries to workers even in July,as only the health workers got full salaries for the month of July to celebrate Sallah.
Abdul says pension deduction from the state workers salaries has not been accounted for in the last two decades, stating that new scheme will require transparency on the part of the state government.
