Ogbomosho Parapo,a socio-cultural group in Gwagwalada-Abuja has condemned in strongest terms a statement credited to Ondo state governor Rotimi Akeredolu mulling for tenure extension/elongation of President Buhari.
A statement issued by Mr Ekundayo Adigun described such statement at this crucial period of our national life as unwarranted,inflammatory and unconstitutional not known to the Nigerian Law.
According to the release,it appears Ondo governor,Rotimi Akeredolu, very senior lawyer at the Bar,is already consumed by his inordinate ambition to return to Alagbaka house in October,hence fanning and treading a dangerous trend that will negate an already reached agreement between the North and South.
He said aisde the gentelman political agreement being brokered by political heavyweights from the regions,his statement is capable of overheating the politiy that will create lack of confidence on the political gladiators from the two regions .
“It is irrational , unthinkable and unacceptable for the controversial Ondo governor to propose tenure extension without political consideration,legal provision and constitutional analysis of the entire process”.
“Ondo Governor,very sure of getting his second term in office by October ,want to deliberately create constitutional crises to polarise the country to his and his cohorts advantage” .
The group warned of the possibility of the governor facing public embarrassement beginning from his state Ondo and the entrire South West,if he did not desist such utterances that is obviously against his race.
“We are not unaware that such statement is a mere Political vendetta against some political leaders from the South West,who are already position to wrestle power not only from President Buhari,but ensure good governance”
“We will not join issues with over ambitious Ondo governor,whose ideals is to impose himself on the people of the state at octogenerian stage of his life,so as to channel the states funds into maintaining his failing health,rather than developing the state”.
“The People of Ondo state can still spring suprises by supporting the main opposition PDP, if he did not withdraw or desist from his unstatemanly vituperation that is unlike of people of his status” He said
