Osinbajo: Do Not Associate Me With Ruga Settlements

Mr. Yemi Osinbajo has said he should not be associated with Ruga settlement of the federal government plan, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) is reporting.
The Vice President says he cannot be associated with the settlement while making the clarification that his office does not supervise it as has been reported by the media.
Mr. Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, in a statement in Abuja on Friday said, the media report associating his boss to be supervising the Ruga settlement is false.
Ruga settlement is an initiative of the federal government to create settlement areas for the Fulani herdsmen across the states.
Although the move is creating tension in the country with states like Benue, and Niger Delta areas outrightly rejecting the initiative, describing it as an attempt by the federal government to collect their land and force the Fulani people on them, the government appears not to bother and have continued with its plan.
Media report emerged that the Vice President will supervise Ruga settlement, a report the VP has since denied.
