Osimhen agrees personal terms with Manchester United – Report

Published

on

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has reached an agreement with Manchester United over personal terms ahead of a potential summer move, according to Turkish journalist Aygün Özipek.

United are said to be keen on signing a top striker following Rasmus Hojlund’s disappointing turnout this season.

Osimhen, who is contracted to Napoli, has been on fire for his loan club Galatasaray, netting 29 times while registering six assists in only 34 games.

It was learnt that the 26-year-old is open to a move to Old Trafford even without the prospect of Champions League football on offer.

Özipek said United have agreed a five-year deal with Napoli for Osimhen for €60 million.

While Osimhen’s release clause was pegged at €75 million, Napoli were said to be willing to lower it to prevent rivals Juventus from landing the striker.

The journalist further disclosed that the striker will receive €15 million per season in wages, which amounts to €288,461 per week.

“Osimhen signs 5-year deal with Manchester United. A transfer fee of 60 million euros will be paid. The football player will receive a net annual salary of 15 million euros,” Özipek wrote on X.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Al Nassr forward, appears to be reviewing his future with the club.

Contract negotiations have been put on hold as the Saudi Pro League club continues to struggle.

According to Marca, discussions for new reports were halted following Al-Nassr’s 3-2 league loss to Al-Ittihad in midweek.

This happened just days after their AFC Champions League semi-final defeat at the hands of Kawasaki Frontale.

Ronaldo had planned to sign a two-year contract, but his poor performance has caused him to reconsider.

Ronaldo has been the face of the Saudi Pro League since joining from Manchester United in early 2023.

But his team’s failure to win a trophy yet again could make the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to leave.

His frustration at the situation has left Al-Nassr pondering their options over a renewal, with a switch to another Saudi side not ruled out.

•Manchester United 4-1 Athletic Bilbao (7-1 agg.)

Manchester United demonstrated their resilience and attacking prowess in emphatic fashion last night, overcoming an early setback to storm into the Europa League final with a commanding 4-1 victory over a spirited Athletic Bilbao at Old Trafford. Substitute Mason Mount proved to be the catalyst for the turnaround, bagging a sensational brace to seal a mouthwatering final clash against Tottenham Hotspur on May 21st.
Despite holding a seemingly unassailable 3-0 lead from the first leg in San Mames, the Red Devils were given a scare when Athletic Bilbao drew first blood. A costly error from Harry Maguire, the hero of their quarter-final tie, allowed Mikel Jauregizar to unleash a spectacular 25-yard strike that whistled past Andre Onana, briefly injecting hope into the visitors’ challenge and silencing the Old Trafford faithful.
However, the setback seemed to galvanize Erik ten Hag’s side. The home crowd rallied behind their team, and their faith was soon rewarded by the introduction of Mason Mount. The midfielder, coming off the bench, injected dynamism into United’s attack. His sharp turn and clinical finish drew the hosts level, easing the palpable tension and swinging the momentum firmly in their favor.
Once parity was restored, United’s quality shone through. Casemiro, a towering presence in midfield, rose highest to head home a corner, putting the home side back in the lead on the night and extending their aggregate advantage. Shortly after, Rasmus Hojlund continued his rich vein of form, pouncing from close range to further solidify United’s control.
Mount, however, was not finished. In the dying moments of the game, with Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala caught high up the pitch in a desperate attempt to salvage something, the midfielder unleashed a stunning long-range strike that sailed majestically into the unguarded net, capping off a memorable individual performance and sealing a comprehensive 4-1 victory on the night, and a resounding 7-1 aggregate triumph.
The emphatic comeback sets the stage for a high-stakes Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur on May 21st. Football fans across the continent will be eagerly anticipating this all-English affair, promising a thrilling encounter for the coveted trophy. Manchester United, buoyed by their resilience and the brilliance of players like Mason Mount, will head into the final full of confidence as they aim to add another piece of silverware to their illustrious history.

Gunners’ Champions League Dream Crushed in Paris

By OBSERVERS TIMES
Paris, France – Arsenal’s hopes of reaching their first Champions League final since 2006 were dashed as Paris Saint-Germain secured a 2-1 victory (3-1 aggregate) in their semi-final second leg clash at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.
Despite a dominant start, where they created several early chances forcing crucial saves from PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, the Gunners failed to capitalize. They were made to pay in the 27th minute when Fabian Ruiz unleashed a stunning left-footed strike past David Raya, doubling PSG’s aggregate advantage.
Arsenal were handed a lifeline in the 69th minute when Raya saved a poorly taken penalty from Vitinha, awarded controversially for handball. However, their hopes were short-lived as Achraf Hakimi extended PSG’s lead shortly after with a well-struck shot that left Raya with no chance.
Bukayo Saka pulled a goal back for Arsenal in the 76th minute and subsequently missed a glorious opportunity to further reduce the deficit, but ultimately it was not enough to spark a comeback.
The Arsenal players were visibly dejected at the final whistle as PSG celebrated their passage to the Champions League final, where they will face Inter Milan in Munich on May 31st.
While Arsenal’s European journey ends in heartbreak, their focus will now shift back to the Premier League as they aim to finish the season strongly and secure second place.

Paris Saint-Germain has received a timely boost with Ousmane Dembele returning to training ahead of their crucial Champions League semi-final second leg against Arsenal.
The French international, who scored the decisive goal in PSG’s 1-0 first-leg victory at the Emirates Stadium last week, had been a concern after picking up a muscle injury in that match.
However, Dembele participated fully in Monday’s squad session and is expected to be fit for Luis Enrique’s side on Wednesday. Opta’s supercomputer gives PSG an 80% chance of progressing to their first Champions League final since 2020. The Ligue 1 champions have never won the competition.
Dembele has been in superb form this season, netting 33 goals across all competitions.
