The retrial of Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu has started.
The former Abia State govenror was docked today by the EFCC for allegedly stealing N7.1billion from his state.
He is facing a retrial at the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo.
A court in Lagos in 2019 convicted the former governor of Abia State and sentenced him to 12-years of imprisonment.
Also convicted with him were his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited, and a former Director of Finance in the state of Abia, Jones Udeogu.
But Udeogu appealed and was set free by the court.
Kalu used the same procedural error exploited by Udeogu, to get his freedom from jail.
