Op_ed Contribution: South West Governors, Fulani, and Buhari’s Nigeria

by

There have been series of misinformation and corresponding reactions from the public concerning the situation in Oyo State.

In fact, the way some of the news get things twisted, you would think that Fulani have overran the entire strech of the State.

We need not dance to the tune of those who are deliberatly chunning out fake news, just to gain political capital. Insecurity is never a good thing to politicize. Yeah, people will become apprehensive as lives are involved, but we must realize quickly that a study was conducted and research was carried out on how the situation can be nib in the bud, the Federal policing are always partners in crime, which has been demonstrated over and over again, recently in the case of the killing of Arakunrin, daughter of Afenifere leader in Ondo, PA. Reuben Fasoranti, and issue of Iskilu Wakili. Police have always sided with the criminals so to say. This is why Amotekun was created in South West Nigeria, at that, it is still same Police and some politicians that have been frustrating them. If goverment are not ready to fight Insecurity, I don’t think they will pump several billions in setting up this outfit. When they first launched, we saw how bad people unleashed black media attack against Amotekun, just for them to have unhindered crime continued.

Truthfully, more actions need to be put in place, which I agree with, but we should stop the habit of acting like we are not seeing what they have been doing or the real issue which is the tartatted and unworkable Federal structure we currently run. Badly in the hand of ethnic bigot whose preoccupation is Fulani expansionnism. Alot of us wailing today, were part of the problems, despite warning that this man will further destroy Nigeria, he’s done it in 1984, he will do it again, but you said, especially the zombie from Yoruba Land, who were screaming everywhere that he is a reformed Democrat. Lol

The killings are too many, From Ogun State, to Ekiti, To Lagos, to Osun, to Ondo. The goverment in these State can do little because of the way our security command are designed which gives absolute powers to the President. We should work hand in hand to demand for a change.

I tell you, if we vote out these governors, and vote in another set, even if some of you critics becomes a replacement, under this current arrangement, you may not even do any better, as it is very convinient to criticize than to be the real actor. The real problem we are not talking about is the structure of Nigeria, these killings have been happening long before these set of state governors came into power, and we have to put a stop to this barbaric culture of killings of our people, where some non state actors (Fulanis) wield guns and publicly display them without any hindrance from the police. More worrying is the fact that, when you arrest and hand them to police, they will be released the next day, and the crime continues with any check.

You can hear Fulani Miyetti Allah saying that they won’t respect the ban on Open Grazing by the South West governors, they have become a law unto themselves, that they can do anything they like. Did you hear Buhari say anything about it? So, why are you not talking about that. We need to know where the problem lies and tackle it rightly than demonizing our own Governors, who have been doing their work, but limited by the circumstances of Nigerian structures.

Another aspect we must consider is the quota of our people in the police, army, and other security agencies. In a badly divided Nigeria with religious and ethnicity, when chips are down, those people will forget about sovereignty and support their people. How many Southerners do we have in Police, Army, etc? We should first solve the problem from the root and then take it up. If not, we would continue in the circle and keep blaming the next set governors.

Let me say this, we as Southerners, we still have alot to learn. Arrest of Wakili and some of their other criminals should never even be in the media. If you tell me you don’t know that bringing it to the media will attract trouble from the Fulani government, then you must be very naive. The efforts in wiping these criminals away should not be a thing of media clout chasing. But coveted operations. Ire o.
