Unedited:
On the 20th day of March, 2013, we the descendants of Onubiogbo clan of Ọ̀pata Idah, under the leadership of our father, Onubiogbo Mohammed Alfa Aruwa (Apọchi neju ọ̀chi- A man is known by his action) left Ọ̀pata with the staff of Igala ancestoral deity “The Otutubatu” on a mission to Ọgwẹ̀ Onede in Ofukolo to meet the traditional wife of the Onubiogbo Chief, “The Onede” to birth a king for the Igala Kingdom.
On this day, we adopted the Aidoko-anya and gave birth to the Ata-Igala, which was presented to the people as their Divine King.
Today, we heard the rumour making round that our Son, the Ata-Igala has passed on to join his ancestors, as clan deep rooted in Igala tradition and the custodian of the Igala culture from the autochthonous Igalamela clan, we do not give in to rumours. The Ata-Igala “our son” is still alive, there is no vacuum in the leadership of the Igala Kingdom.
This position remain our stand on the ongoing rumour pending when the Onubiogbo Chief is formally informed of the passage of the Ata-Igala in line with the Igala tradition.
Thank you
Salihu A. Aruwa Ph.D.
