Group of concerned Ondo youths has kicked against the ministerial nomination of Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, over what it called a disaster nomination.
This happened as the screening of the nominees started on Monday.
Kelvin Adedayo, the group’s spokesman said Olubunmi, who is the nominee from Ondo State, forged his National Youths Service Corp (NYSC) Certificate.
The group further stated that he was a member of National Assembly between 2019 to 2023 the same year he claimed to have participated in the NYSC, which they described as impossible forgery.
“We expressed surprise that Olubunmi’s name was listed as a ministerial nominee despite his obvious corruption during his time as House of Representatives Chairman on NDDC in the 9th Assemby. It was recalled that senate president, Godswill Akpabio who is now about to screen him had condemned him in the past during the House investigation of contract scam at NDDC.
“The same Olubunmi was the one Akpabio accused of contract fraud during House probe with famous off your microphone statement.
“It is quite unfortunate that the same man who diverted NDDC projects and employment opportunities meant for oil producing communities in Ondo State to non-oil producing communities of the state was among the ministerial nominees despite his crimes against the people of his state.
We called on the President Bola Tinubu-led government to investigate and prosecute Olubunmi over Certificate forgery in order to avoid shaming and discrediting his government.
Posterity will judge the 10th senate if a forger of the prestigious NYSC certificate is allowed to get away with this fraud.
