In a heartfelt appeal, 91-year-old Pa Adesanoye Eghaegbemi has called on the Federal Government to take urgent action to alleviate the economic hardships currently faced by the masses in Nigeria. This plea came shortly after he cast his vote at Polling Unit 5, Ward 6, Ikoya Igbinsin-Oloto in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Eghaegbemi expressed concern over how the prevailing economic conditions are impacting the elderly population, urging the government to implement measures that would help mitigate the effects of hunger and hardship. He emphasized the importance of participating in the electoral process, stating that he voted to support the election of leaders who would prioritize good governance and ensure that citizens benefit from the dividends of democracy.
“I came out to vote to exercise my franchise as a bonafide citizen of Nigeria to elect good leaders and engender good governance, and enjoy dividends of democracy,” he said. He further highlighted the pervasive issues of hardship and hunger, which he noted are affecting not just the young but also the elderly, urging the government to intervene on behalf of the struggling masses.
In closing, Eghaegbemi prayed for a government that would genuinely consider the welfare of the people, hoping that the outcome of the ongoing election would favor those who have the masses’ best interests at heart.
