A group of stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has written to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to remove the heads of Nigeria’s oil and gas regulatory agencies. The Tinubu Legacy Coalition (TLC) cited alleged mismanagement, corruption, and inefficiencies in the sector.
The signatories, including Hon Bala Abu, Dr. Jeremmiah Okino, Comrade Gabriel Gbana, Dr. Thomas Terna, Princess Ajibola, and 95 others, called for the removal of:
– Mele Kyari, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL)
– Gbenga Komolafe, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC)
– Farouk Ahmed, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA)
The group highlighted issues such as:
– Persistent fuel scarcity and queues
– Pipeline vandalism and oil theft
– Failure of the NNPCL refinery in Rivers State to commence operations
– Declining contribution to GDP
– Global reputational damage due to corruption and mismanagement
The letter stated that the officials’ continued stay in office has harmed President Tinubu’s image and called for transparency and accountability to prevent further corruption and losses.
