Ohinoyi of Ebiraland: Kogi Govt Commences Succession Process

The Kogi State Government has commenced process to fill the vacant stool of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, the paramount ruler of the Ebira people.

 

Recall the former Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Dr. Ado Ibrahim CON died October 29th, 2023 at the age of 94 after a brief illness. 

The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Salami Ozigi Deedat on Monday in a meeting with the Ebira Area Traditional Council where he inaugurated the committee of Kingmakers.

The Honourable Commissioner who read the edict that guides the stool, conveyed the government’s directives to the committee to commence immediate work.

Part of the committee’s major responsibilities is to receive application letters from interested and eligible aspirants as prescribed by law.

According to the media aide of the Commissioner, Enero Rufai Sule, “the committee’s work is expected to last through the week till Friday, the 15th of December, 2023 whereby their recommendations shall be received by the Ministry, for onward treatment.”
