President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Jumoke Oduwole as the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, making her the fourth minister from Ogun State in his administration. This is notable, as it is uncommon to have more than two ministers from a single state in the federal cabinet, according to Daily Trust.
During the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, President Tinubu announced the addition of seven new ministers to his cabinet.
Among the new appointees are Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, who will serve as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Jumoke Oduwole, the former Executive Secretary of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, now leading the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
Other newly appointed ministers include Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment; Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Minister of State for Education.
Additionally, Sunday Dare, the former Minister of Sports, has been named Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation.
In a reshuffle, the president also dismissed five ministers from their posts.
With Oduwole’s appointment, Ogun State is now represented by four ministers in the federal cabinet: Adekunle Salako (Minister of State for Environment), Bosun Tijani (Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy), and Wale Edun (Minister of Finance).
