In an operation, Nigerian Army troops successfully rescued ten passengers who fell victim to kidnappers while travelling from Calabar to Abuja.
The abduction took place at Ogugu Community along the Enugu-Kogi Road, situated in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to a statement issued by Nigerian Army spokesman, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the troops sprang into action upon receiving a distress call, swiftly mobilizing to engage the armed kidnappers in a fierce firefight.
The kidnappers had halted a Peace Mass Transit bus, forcibly taking the passengers captive and leading them into the nearby Ette forest. However, the determined efforts of the Nigerian Army forced the kidnappers to abandon their hostages, resulting in a successful rescue operation.
Major General Nwachukwu emphasized that this operation underscores the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian military to safeguarding the safety and security of citizens.
