NYSC members to receive N33,000 as allowance from 2020 – DG .

The director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has finally cleared the air on the fixed amount as the monthly allowance for members of the scheme. Speaking at his recent visit to Bauchi, Ibrahim said that the federal government has approved N33,000 as the new allowance for NYSC members, NTA reports.

The NYSC boss said that the upward review of the stipend is in line with the new minimum wage approved by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. He went on to say that payment of the allowance at the new rate has already been provided for in the 2020 national budget.

Ibrahim said that payment will begin immediately funds are released by the appropriate authorities. Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Rose, the 200-level student of a university in Benin Republic, who allegedly faked an educational certificate and joined the batch C of NYSC was being investigated for the alleged crime. The investigation follows an action taken against her by the NYSC which transferred the case to Nigeria’s secret security, the Department of State Services (DSS). The suspect, who is a student of journalism, was arrested in Zamfara state after she allegedly submitted fake documents and was already undergoing orientation with the batch of the NYSC. The update on the issue was confirmed by Brig-Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, director-general of NYSC in Abuja.

According to Ibrahim, Rose gave herself out after she posted photographs on social media kitted with NYSC uniforms.
