The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has refuted allegations that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, facilitated the return of the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, to the state on Saturday. The spokesperson for the ONSA, Zakari Mijinyawa, described the claim as “untrue” and clarified that the NSA did not provide the aircraft that brought Ado-Bayero back to Kano.
Earlier, the Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, had accused Ribadu of providing two jets to transport the deposed Emir to Kano. However, Mijinyawa denied this allegation, emphasizing that the NSA did not provide air transport to anyone.
Mijinyawa also cautioned politicians against spreading misinformation, which could undermine the efforts of security agencies to maintain peace and order in the state. He urged political actors to exercise restraint in their speech and avoid misleading the public.
The denial by the ONSA has added another layer of complexity to the ongoing political crisis in Kano State, which has seen the deposition of Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and the installation of a new emir, Sanusi. The situation remains volatile, with both sides dug in and refusing to back down.
