Nobody Promised Tinubu President In 2023 – Yarima

by

Mr. Sani Yarima, a Senator has said at no time did Muhammadu Buhari promise Mr. Bola Tinubu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to succeed him after his eight years tenure.

Yarima has since challenged Tinubu to provide a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to prove Buhari made a promise to hand over power to him.

Yarima, a former Zamfara state governor and three-term Senator has since made his intention of contesting the 2023 president known.

Yarima who spoke in an interview with Daily Trust pointed to the Buhari statement where he said, he doesn’t have a candidate and that nobody should even use his name, as indications of the non-existence of any MoU.

“I don’t think Nigeria belongs to any of them and I don’t think anyone in any position can determine what Nigeria should have. Politics is about an election – for people to decide what they want. So it is the majority of the people that will determine who they want” Yarima said.

“If he signed an agreement with Asiwaju, that agreement cannot be implemented even in getting the ticket. It cannot guarantee Asiwaju a ticket” he added.

This is even as Tinubu in 2015 and 2019 presidential elections worked hard to ensure that his zone, the South – West, voted for Buhari to win the two elections.

An effort many believe Tinubu was working to secure a political anointment from Buhari to succeed him after his two terms.

A belief, Yarima has since dismissed challenging Tinubu to prove the Buhari, promised him, president, after 2023.
