Nobody Can Harass Us, Kano State Government Defies Intimidation Over Sanusi’s Reinstatement

The Kano State government has reiterated its commitment to its decision to reinstate the deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, despite mounting pressure and intimidation. Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo made this clear at a press conference on Monday, emphasizing that the government’s decision serves the common good of the people.

Gwarzo appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing controversy to prevent the situation from escalating and ensure peaceful resolution. He emphasized that the state government followed due process in reinstating Emir Sanusi and dissolving the five emirates created by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2019.

The deputy governor clarified that the government was not served with any court order regarding the matter and warned that nobody could intimidate the state government over its decision. He stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence for the state’s progress and political stability.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, dismissed reports of widespread violent protests in the state, attributing isolated incidents to hired miscreants and thugs aiming to destabilize the state for personal gain. He reiterated that the government’s decision to reinstate Emir Sanusi was made in the best interests of the state and has been welcomed by a significant portion of the population.

The government urged the public to disregard sensational media reports and support its efforts to create a more cohesive and unified state, while calling on the media to exercise responsible journalism and verify facts before publishing reports that could cause unnecessary tension.
