In a significant development, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has deployed over 100 trucks to the Dangote Refinery in preparation for the commencement of fuel loading on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
The state-owned company announced this in a statement, accompanied by pictures showing hundreds of trucks stationed within the premises of the indigenous refinery in Lagos State.
According to the NNPCL, the trucks are being mobilized to the refinery’s fuel loading gantry in Ibeju-Lekki, with hundreds more en route.
This development marks a major milestone in the operation of the refinery, which is expected to significantly boost Nigeria’s fuel production capacity. The Dangote Refinery, owned by business magnate Aliko Dangote, has a capacity to produce 650,000 barrels of oil per day and is expected to meet Nigeria’s fuel demands and potentially export surplus products.
The NNPCL’s deployment of trucks to the refinery signals the start of a new era in Nigeria’s fuel supply chain, following an agreement reached on pricing and supply terms between the NNPCL and the Dangote Refinery.
