NIM Commends FCCPC Seeks More Support For The Organization To Tackle Price Gauging.

The Nigerian Integrity Movement NIM, has appeal to the Federal Consumer Competition Protection Commission FCCPC to beam it’s searchlight on disgruntled Nigerians whose aim is to scuttle the new price regime of petroleum products introduced by the government.
In doing this, the final consumers rights will be protected from Shylock marketers, their agents who are business men, Organisations and Bodies.
According to NIM,the cumbersome chains of distribution of petroleum products will only be tackled through strict monitoring by the FCCPC, to disallow sharp practices among middle business organisation and their agents, from treating final users/consumers as conduit pipe to amass ill gotten gains.
According to NIM spokesperson,Mr Kayode Esan says the body is confident that with the intervention of a neutral and robust body like FCCPC, that had passed through all integrity test, will check diverse sharp practices.
The body expressed reservation over the series of discrepancies on price regime and guage of various fuel outlets, saying this calls for more monitoring and observation.
‘Some greedy business men and organizations are taken advantage of the pump price increase and transfer anger and aggression on the final consumers,a situation inimical to the survival of ordinary Nigerians’ He said.
He says with the highest cost of petrol after the upward review,it will be a complete disservice by any Nigerian,to indulge in pilfering from it’s citizens, who were already stressed by the new development, saying it is only the agency that could counter such anomaly.
The body urged the FCCPC not to hesitate in wading it’s usual big stick on offenders,as many are already feeding fat from the new government price policy on petroleum products.
The civil and usual ways of handling issues of pricing and supply chain of the regulatory body, had relieve many Nigerians of underhand dealings of many producers, manufacturers and others.
He said.
