A recent survey conducted by the Pcl State Performance Index report has revealed that thirty-six states in Nigeria are on the brink of collapse due to escalating unemployment, widespread hunger, involuntary emigration (Japa), and the rampant spread of illicit economic activities.
Unveiling the findings of the report, it highlighted that unemployment stands out as the most critical risk factor that states urgently need to address in order to pave the way for tangible growth and development.
Furthermore, the report underscored the alarming lack of food security, with hunger gripping communities across various states in Nigeria.
“Medium-Risk Factors: Collapse of public institutions (52 per cent), the proliferation of illicit economic activities (49 per cent), and large-scale involuntary emigration (Japa) (46 per cent).
“Low-Risk Factors: Spread of infectious diseases (31 per cent), collapse of public institutions (25 per cent), and large-scale involuntary emigration (20 per cent),” the report stated.
These findings shed light on the pressing challenges facing Nigeria, urging immediate action to mitigate the adverse effects and steer the nation towards a path of stability and prosperity.
