Nigerian Railway Corporation begins free train services till January 4

The Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, announces that, in accordance with President Bola Tinubu’s directive, it will initiate complimentary train services for all passengers starting from Thursday, December 21, 2023, to Thursday, January 4 (today), 2024, inclusive. 

The NRC stated that passengers should acquire their complimentary tickets exclusively through online e-ticketing platforms. 

The Corporation noted that tickets will not be issued at any of the Corporation’s Train Stations. 

The cooperation also granted 100% free rail train trips across Kaduna -Abuja, Lagos-Ibadan, Warri-Itakpe routes 

NRC statement:

  • Passengers are advised to obtain their free tickets via the online e-ticketing platforms only. 
  • “Tickets will not be issued at any of the corporation’s train stations. Please note that no commuter will be allowed to board the train without a ticket.” 
  • “The NRC urges passengers to comply with security personnel and adhere to the boarding instructions provided by officials. 
  • We enjoined commuters to be orderly, obey security personnel and the laid down boarding instructions of the NRC and those of its officials while at the station and on-board the trains,” the statement added.
