A policeman in Katsina State has killed one of his colleagues while shooting at peaceful protesters, according to multiple videos obtained by SaharaReporters. The deceased officer is seen lying in a pool of blood after being shot by his colleague.

The incident has sparked outrage, with many condemning the police’s use of excessive force against protesters. The police have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, and attempts to obtain comments from the State Police Spokesman were unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police has lamented that police officers were killed and injured during the #EndBadGovernance protest, and has placed all units on red alert. The Katsina state government has also imposed a 24-hour curfew and banned unusual gatherings and protests across the state.

The police have denied shooting live ammunition at protesters, claiming that officers exercised maximum restraint and professionalism in handling the situation. However, eyewitnesses and videos suggest otherwise.
