Member of the Reach Care Foundation, Dr. Nandul Durfa has advised health workers across the country to take precautionary measures by wearing protective suits for their safety.
Durfa gave the advice yesterday while briefing journalists in his Gwarinpa office in Abuja.
He charged health workers to be cautious of their health and that of their patients not to be infected with Lassa Fever and other diseases.
The advice came on the heels of the outbreak of Lassa fever and other diseases in the country and beyond.
Durfo opined that Nigerian health workers should take advantage of the new “Veslex Protective Apparel” which is a fabric used in hospitals in the United States of America.
He explained that the protective apparel had proven to be highly repellent fluid barrier, durable antimicrobial and effective against broad spectrum of organisms and possess superior technology that also works moisture away from the body to ensure wearers comfort.
The board member further stated that vertex had just been introduced into Nigeria in order to curtain the menace of exposure of health workers to infections in the cause of performing their duties, stressing that both the federal and state Ministries of Health and other related health institutions across the country should take advantage of the products to avoid fire brigade approach.
He also pointed out that Vestex had proven in a clinical setting to reduce the acquisition and retention of contaminants on clothing and also has lower level of microbial present on the garments than on the hand.
