NIGERIA @ 61; HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY.
I join Nigerians all over the world to celebrate the 61st Independence Anniversary of our great nation, Nigeria. As Nigeria mark its 61 years of freedom, it is an opportunity to reflect on our progress, celebrate our humble attainments and brood over those dreams that we are yet to fulfill as a nation.
I can’t help but ask, how are we doing @ 61? It is with tears in my eyes that I say Nigeria as a nation @ 61 is not doing well. Nigeria has wriggle through numerous economic challenges, with inflation and unemployment at its worse level today. Our dear nation @ 61 has turned into an unenviable poverty capital of the world, where over 82.9 million Nigerians can no longer afford daily meals and other necessities of life. Truth be told, the true meaning of independence is yet to be fully felt in all aspects of our lives as Nigerians.
However, the above should not ebb our commitment and hope for a better Nigeria, a Nigeria of our dream. I therefore called on all well meaning Nigerians to pray for our dear nation. No matter your religion, it is a wake-up call to pray for Nigeria for a meaningful independence. A nation that will experience and celebrate true independence from abject poverty, economic stagnation and ethno-religion bigotry. So that the vision of our founding fathers of building a truly egalitarian society where love, freedom and justice reigns will be achieved.
God Bless Federal Republic of Nigeria.
