N’Golo Kanté happy with life at Chelsea, does not want to leave for Real Madrid — report

by

According to a report from ESPN, Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté is quite happy with life at Stamford Bridge — thanks for asking! — and does not want to move out anytime soon. Better yet, Chelsea appear not keen on selling him either!

For whatever reason, the Spanish press started to believe (push for) Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane fulfilling his latest dream of taking more players from Chelsea. After snatching Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard in the span of twelve months, the next player on the list is supposedly the one and only Kanté.

Of course, they probably should’ve asked Kanté about that first.

Granted, Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz will be a very expensive player — and after acquiring Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in a true 5headmove over Liverpool, letting go of the highest paid player in the squad to make room in the budget could be justifiably logical.

But the equation is not that simple. FFP rules are suspended for the next 12 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Roman Abramovich could conceivably pump as much money as he can in the club during this period. Beyond the financials, Kanté is said to be quite appreciative of how Chelsea were superbly understanding of his reservations and concerns about training and playing during the ongoing pandemic.

While we can question whether Kanté’s is past his (spectacular) prime after the series of injuries he has suffered since the end of last season, the known variables are that he wants to stay at the Bridge, and that Chelsea have not indicated that we see him as an asset to be sold.
