NBC Celebrates Children Day, says Code Section 4(2) recognises Children

Today, May 27 in Nigeria, is celebrated as Children’s Day.

It is a day to recognize, honour, celebrate and appreciate children, as well as, look at the need to continously protect them from working long hours in dangerous circumstances, groom them, accordingly, and allow them access to rightful education.

The observance of this celebration varies from country to country.

Children are said to be Gods gift and for this sole reason, we must pay close attention to them in every facet of their lives from the spiritual, intellectual, physical and emotional aspect because they are the future of many generations.

While it is not a public holiday, the kids are exempted from school activities and given the day off to spend it with family and friends.

The Nigerian Broadcasting Code, Section 4(2) recognises Children, 18 years and below, as particularly vulnerable to influence and, therefore, requires protection from broadcast materials likely to lead them into anti-social behaviour or lower self esteem.

Roll-out the drums! Lets celebrate our Children!!
