Abuja, Nigeria – The National Assembly will convene a special joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, to commemorate 25 years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria.
The historic event, which will take place at the Chamber of the House of Representatives, will be attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, state governors, and former leaders.
During the session, President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate the newly constructed National Assembly Library building, which will be named in his honor.
The event will feature keynote speeches from distinguished guests, including former Senate President David Mark, who will reflect on the Senate’s progress over the years, and former Speaker of the House and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, who will share insights on the House’s journey.
Additionally, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, a respected statesman and former Head of State, will deliver a speech on “Contemplations on the Pathway to Democracy.”
This milestone event celebrates Nigeria’s democratic journey and the National Assembly’s role in shaping the country’s democratic growth.
