National Assembly Commends President Tinubu’s Performance

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed the National Assembly’s delight with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s performance since assuming office on May 29, 2023. During a special joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives, the Speaker praised the President’s supportive and democratic leadership, fostering a cordial executive-legislative relationship beneficial to democracy.

The National Assembly convened to receive President Tinubu and commemorate the 25th anniversary of Nigeria’s return to democracy and the first anniversary of his administration. Notably, this event marked the first official recitation of the reinstated national anthem, “Nigeria We Hail Thee,” following the President’s assent to the bill suspending the second national anthem, “Arise O’ Compatriots.”

Speaker Abbas announced the postponement of scheduled activities to June 12, acknowledging the error in celebrating Democracy Day on May 29 instead of the actual date, June 12. The National Assembly looks forward to celebrating 25 years of unbroken democracy on the corrected date.
