Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the November 11 Kogi governorship election, Hon. Leke Abejide has described the declaration of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the duly elected Senator of Kogi Central senatorial district as a triumph of light over forces of darkness.
Abejide while Akpoti-Uduaghan’s victory at the Court of Appeal on Tuesday said no matter how long falsehood travel, the truth will catch up with it one day.
Taking a subtle swipe at Governor Yahaya Bello, he said Natasha’s doggedness has reinvigorated Kogi electorate to challenge their “common enemy”.
He also eulogized the judiciary for rekindling the hope of Kogi people, especially the Kogi Central electorate “who were robbed by agent of violence and electoral manipulators”.
The world watched as your clear victory was brazenly upturned by desperate forces of darkness. Even when you won four out of five Local Government Areas in the Central Senatorial District, they manipulated the system believing that they can get away with the broad daylight robbery.
“But thanks to your doggedness, and the resolve of the judiciary to do justice without fear of favor, you have ended the era of electoral impunity in Kogi State today.”
Your resolve and determination to go all out has shown us that we can challenge Kogi common predator – the ‘White Lion’.
“This victory is sweet and I urge you to savour it, especially coming at a time like this. You fought a long battle,” he said.
