NASIR EL-RUFAI is part and parcel of the security problem in Kaduna State By George Onmonya Daniel

by

About a year ago, sometime in February 2019, Governor Nasir El-Rufai rushed to announce to the world that 131 of his Fulani tribesmen were killed in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A man who enjoys sensationalism and drama, till date Nasir El-Rufai hasn’t provided evidence pertaining that claim. His incessant defense of Fulanis instead of focus on governing Kaduna State attracted bandits.

From beginning Nasir El-Rufai came in defending Fulanis. They were the victims. Others were the aggressors. With no empathy, arrogantly, he blamed Southern Kaduna for the problem that led to incessant massacres of the people.

You will recall he went to give some Fulani group hundreds of millions of naira, claiming it was to calm them down to stop the killings.

This is the body language that attracted bandits and Islamic terrorist groups to Kaduna State. What did Nasir El-Rufai do or say over bandits blocking the highway from Abuja to Kaduna? Not much I tell you. If Governor Nasir El-Rufai was hard on bandits and terrorists the way he went ballistic on Sheikh El-Zakzaky’s Shiite members, I am not sure these bandits would have it all good in Kaduna and environ.

Just imagine if someone else is Governor of Kaduna State today what Nasir El-Rufai would be saying about what’s been going on in Kaduna State? This vuvuzela Governor would have painted a scenario that way he did during the time of Jonathan when he kept accusing the PDP of planting bombs in Abuja to distract Nigerians.
