Nasarawa Assembly Speakership Tussle, PDP Writes Governor Sule.

by

The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State has been drawn to an on going stories in the state that the State Government is planning to use security operatives to deny elected Honourable Members of the State Assembly from opposition parties entrance into the Assembly Complex/Chamber on the forthcoming day of their official inuguration in a bid to disfranchised them from exercising their civil and constitutional right of electing the Speaker and other Principal Officers of their choice thereby, enable the Governor to impose his preferred candidates on the Honorable Members and the good people of Nasarawa State which they were elected to serve.

As a party, this statement is very important in the present circumstances, because we can’t ignored such attempt capable of distracting the existing stability in the state. Note that, it’s on record in the just concluded governorship election security men from Government House and other areas were deployed to do the bidding of their political masters rather than to serving the father land with all vigor and integrity. We can’t fold our hands seeing such ugly senario in a roll.

The Leadership of PDP in the state here by wish to advise the Executive Arm of the State not to interfere in the business of the Legislative Arm unduly but allow them to choose their leaders when the time comes. The act of imposition and deprivation is not only undemocratic but an act of unfaithfulness to the Oath of Office and true allegiance.

To this end we wish to call on the State Commissioner of Police, DSS and Heads of other Security Agencies to remain none political and neutral in discharging their responsibility as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
