The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is investigating Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), for failing to account for over N32 billion raised from the sale of forms for the 2023 general election.

EFCC operatives visited Adamu’s residence with a search warrant, but they were barred from entering by police orderlies guarding the house, citing the lateness of the hour. Adamu reportedly resigned and sought support from the state chairmen of the party to avoid removal, but they distanced themselves from his actions, as he did not involve them according to the party’s constitution. Adamu allegedly left only N7 billion in the party’s account despite claims of an audit. The EFCC’s spokesman did not respond to inquiries at the time of the report.
