It was a faithful Wednesday in furtherance of the mission of the cross in preaching salvation to lost souls I left Abuja 21st of April, 2021 At about 1pm to Awka in Anambra State. Awka was not the final destination, but a decision to enable my immediate family; my wife (Pst Mrs Nkiruka Rose Paul, my help Miss Blessing, and my Son Emmanuel Anibe Ifanyi Paul) spend time with our extended family to grace the weekend with love and pleasantries.

Delta State was the final destination in honour of an invitation to a three days power packed programme “CHRIST OUR HELPER.”

I departed Awka for this purpose at about 2:00Hours of 22nd April of which I left for Asaba on Saturday at about 12pm to enable me meet up demanding schedules.

On my way back, I headed straight to Awka in Anambra State to enable me return with my family, there I spent some sometimes with my in-laws and left at about 3:45pm. The journey continued through Enugu, Nsukka/Odolu and got to Ogbogbo in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area at about 11:20pm where we stopped over to say hi to my Elder Sister Ruth Pius Arome who recently lost her husband.

We took off from Ajaka at about 12:45Hour of 25th April 2021, the Journey continued with Abuja as our final destination. Due to the rigorousness of the journey, at a point I became so tired and was dizzied, a situation which prompted my decision to park and have a few minutes nap at Itobe.

At about an hour later we continued the journey until we ran into a “military” checked point orchestrated by the deadly Fulani Herdsmen who disguise themselves as Military Men. We were ordered at gun point to highlight from our car, which we did as instructed without hesitations. Haven ransacked our car, bags and pockets, valuables such as; 2 Infinix X4 and one Infinix Note 8 were obtained immediately and just in a swift, they ordered my wife into a bush path accompanied while dragging her. I pleaded they should let my wife go for we are family. To the glory of God my plea was granted; perhaps to establish a point for negotiation.

I was dragged into the bush where we walked on foot for hours. We crossed rivers and walked through mountains. It was a terrible experience, very dehumanizing and traumatizing to say the least. The kidnappers from what I saw are very familiar with the terrine and speak in Fulani dialect. They were ready to proof their seriousness at all cost. They were more under the influence of hard drugs from keen observation. Nothing was of value to them except the ransomed. At a point haven walked for hours nonstop, one of them, I guess their leader said, my ransome was 50million. I told them that would be an impossible demand. After a while, the ransome was reduced to 20million and i repeated myself as there was no such money anywhere. Worst of it, we couldn’t communicate fluently because they don’t understand English and i don’t understand the language they were speaking. It was a frustrating moment for them for they considered our communication breach an obstacle. To the glory of God, Mr Abuh who mediated in the negotiation speaks and understand Hausa. This brought some level of succor and calmness in the camp. They seem more relaxed and positioned to discussed business at that time.

At a time, it became evident I could not afford a ransome on my own, they later settled for 1Million.

I left the den of evil unhurt to God’s glory.

My special appreciation goes to all those who came through for me and my family through your words of prayers and cash contributions seeing to my release.

It is my earnest prayer that Almighty God reward you all and perfect all that concerns you.

Remain Blessed!
