Governor Fubara Receives Ijaw Youth Council Leadership, Urges Peaceful Celebration of Isaac Adaka Boro Day

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that his administration has emerged victorious over those who sought to bring them down, stating that his detractors have fallen victim to their own plots. This declaration was made during a solidarity walk by the national and state leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) to the Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday, marking the 2024 Isaac Adaka Boro Day.

Governor Fubara praised the late Major Isaac Adaka Boro for his unwavering commitment to equity, justice, and fair play, and for his tireless efforts to secure liberation for the Ijaw people and their clans. He emphasized that every genuine Rivers citizen is a liberator, and expressed his delight at receiving the IYC delegation on this significant day, as they shared a common purpose of liberation.

The Governor revealed that the recent crisis in the state was intended to disrupt his one-year anniversary celebration, but those responsible have been defeated, and are now “sleeping with their eyes open.” He encouraged Ijaw youths to conduct themselves peacefully during the celebrations and to serve as good ambassadors for the entire Ijaw Nation.

In his words, “We have already defeated them. By the special grace of God, what they thought they would have done to us while we were celebrating our one year in office, they are the ones sleeping with their two eyes open. It shows that we have the Ijaw blood. And what is that blood? It is the blood of action; less talk, more action.”

The celebration of Isaac Adaka Boro Day serves as a reminder of the importance of liberation and the need for continued unity and action towards a brighter future for Rivers State.
