The Igala Vanguard group has said that the Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello who lost mother three days ago after a brief illness does not need commiseration. According to the group, the governor doesn’t need sympathy at the age of mom’s demise, rather he should think of the children of those his thugs killed during the elections and those who died in the course of his protracted screening. The group said Bello’s administration has created more orphans and widows just like the dreaded Corona Virus ravaging the world.
The leader of the group, Engr. Lawrence Ankpa, who made this known in a press statement, said, “Tell him that Acheju that was burnt to death in her house at Ochadamu by his thugs was a mother of somebody. He should put himself in the shoes of the children of Acheju and see the feelings. If it were to be his mother that was burnt by PDP thugs, what will he have done?”
“The governor’s mom died at age of 101 (One hundred and one) leaving great great grand children behind. Even though every mother’s death is painful at any age, one could see that Bello’s mother had lived a fulfilled life. But same can’t be said of Late Mrs. Abu Acheju who was burnt to death last year by certain hired thugs said to be sponsored by Yahaya Bello. Acheju’s children lost a very young mom who was burnt alive in an election that brought Bello on seat. Looking into these scenarios without biased judgment, who is bereaved?” the group added.
Loads of condolences have continued to flood in since the demise of Bello’s mother and her death has drawn the attentions of the Nigerian Political Bigwigs. But very many people were said not to have visited Ochadamu to sympathize with the tender children of late Mrs. Acheju when she was horribly burnt alive.
While lamenting on the situation, Engr. Ankpa said if Bello was seen shading tears for the late mom, late Mrs. Abu’s children must be crying blood. He further stated that the situation clearly revealed the kind of society people found themselves in this part of the world. “The government is said to care less about the lives of the commoners; Bello is a governor, late Mrs. Abu’s children are ‘nobodies.” he added.
While kidnapping has continued to thrive in Kogi State without necessary intervention, it is said to be ordinary compared to setting a human being ablaze, as it happened to Mrs. Abu in Ofu local government, last year.
As the untimely horrible death of late Mrs. Abu continue to be fresh on the minds of Kogites, the people are still demanding that the perpetrators be brought to book. They also called on the governor to put himself in the shoes of those Mrs. Abu left behind if he has a conscience at all.
