Looking Beyond The Announcement Of ATA IGALA: 74 traditional tools upgraded and upgraded, Kogi Central 27, Kogi West 25 And Kogi East 22,

Congratulations to the entire Igala race on the appointment of the new ATA IGALA as worked out by the Igala Kingmakers et al.

The announcement came strategically in a parcel loaded with so many things. But, for the Igala people, the Ata stool will keep them busy – they will look the other way as most of their Social Media actors, critics and champions may wake up to fight or defend.

Meanwhile, here (below) is what really happened yesterday in summary:

1. Seventy four (74) traditional stools were graded and upgraded.

2. Kogi Central with 27, West with 25 and “Almighty” East with 22.

3. Central got 9 1st Class; 8 2nd Class and 10 3rd Class.

4. West got 6 1st Class; 10 2nd Class and 9 3rd Class.

5. East (Igala) got 2 1st Class; 9 2nd Class and 11 3rd Class.

6. Ajaokuta (in the Central) got 7 from the 27 allotted to Central and historically, 4 were graded – that’s newly created or admitted officially by the government into the state traditional council. Of this 4, non came to the Igala settlements in Ajaokuta – may be they didn’t submit or lobby for it, right? It’s okay.

SO, WHAT ABOUT THIS DEVELOPMENT?

It’s okay, let’s put out some questions like

1. What if the traditional council tomorrow begin to push for a rotational Chairmanship of the Kogi State Council of Traditional Rulers and it results to voting?

2. What if the voting went in favour of the push and bill forwarded to the Kogi State House of Assembly for passage? Though we have highest number of representatives per zones but what if Central and West teamed up?

3. So, what happens if the Ata Igala thereafter becomes the “Vice Chairman” if the “push” becomes “law”? It’s okay, right?

SO, WHAT DO WE DO GOING FORWARD?

1. Let’s withdraw from social media on vital issues that affect the kingdom.

2. Let the elders, elites and political leaders bury their differences then begin to close ranks.

3. Let’s begin to put collective interests above individual interests

4. Let professional bodies begin serious strategic meetings – Law, Medicine, Engineering, Media/Creative Writers et al.

5. Let business moguls begin to think of how to invest at home and where not possible (in view of the nature of their businesses) begin to train and fix our boys and girls.

I tell us all, this is time to rise for the land, positively.

We need real reorientation, quality information, education for us to have a behavioural change for the good of our land and Nigeria at large.
