Late Prime Minister Balewa’s wife dies

Wife of the first Nigerian prime minister, Hajiya Jummai Abubakar Tafawa Balewa is dead.
Hajiya Jummai died Sunday evening. Granddaughter of the late Prime Minister, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, who confirmed the death in a telephone interview with Blueprint said the late prime minister’s wife died of cardiac arrest. She said before her death, the old woman was taken to India to seek medical care on her heart disease but was discharged some days ago hale and hearty.

Wanka added that after she was discharged, Mrs Tafawa Balewa died in Lagos, Nigeria, following abrupt cardiac arrest. ” Her corpse will be brought to Bauchi on Monday for funeral. I cannot tell you her exact age at the moment but will confirm and get back to you,” she said
