Following the death, of Sylvester Oromoni, a student of Dowen College in Lekki, the Lagos State Government has ordered that the school be closed indefinitely just as it ordered an investigation into the student’s death.
Reports have it that Sylvester Oromoni was beaten in his school by fellow students (alleged to be cultists) of Dowen College to death refusing to join a cult group.
Making this order the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, of the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Ganiu Lawal in a statement on Friday said that pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr Dowen College should remain closed.
She said, “The Lagos State Government has ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, Lekki, pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a student of the school.
Also the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, after meeting with the School Management and Staff called for calm saying that all the Lagos state government will get to the root of the killing.
“The Commissioner called for calm, saying no effort will be spared in getting to the root of the incident.” said Adefisayo
