The Lagos State Government has announced the introduction of an on-street parking scheme, which will involve charging vehicles parked on designated streets on an hourly basis. The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) will implement the scheme, which is scheduled to commence in October.
In a notice dated July 19, addressed to the Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), LASPA’s Head of Operations, Ayokunle Akinrimisi, informed the organization of the new directive. The notice stated that vehicles parked on designated streets by churches and their members will be subject to hourly charges, and warned that indiscriminately parked vehicles will be enforced accordingly.
While the notice did not specify the exact fee to be charged, it urged compliance with the directive, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the law as a responsible organization.
