The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has revealed that his administration could not conduct the much expected Local Government elections in the last four years due to lack of funds.
He stated this at the inauguration of three Commissions, Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Kogi State Hajj Commission (KHC), Kogi State Judicial Service (KJS) in Lokoja on Thursday.
He charged members of the SIEC not to be biased in conduct of Local Government elections in the State.
According to him, he observed the provisions of the law in what he did, noting that those he appointed were based on merit saying, they are men of integrity.
According to him “You are not card carrier of any political party, nobody will interfere into your activities, every political party is very relevant and important in the state and as such you are expected to treat them equally and transparently.
“You should not look at any body’s face while discharging your duties, you are expected to conduct a free, fair and credible election that will be adjudged as the best in the history of the state,” the governor charged them.
The governor also announced appointment of 35 Senior Special Assistants on Thursday with 21 of them as heads of Local Government Councils.
