Chief Yohanna Margif, a chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), has denounced the recent viral video of young Nigerians hoisting Russia’s national flag during the ongoing national protests. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Margif described the act as “worrisome, treasonable, and unacceptable,” and indicative of ignorance on the part of the protesters.
Margif commended President Bola Tinubu’s swift action in directing security chiefs to apprehend and bring to book those responsible for the incident. He emphasized that such behavior has the potential to worsen the already volatile situation and lead to further loss of lives and properties.
The LP chieftain also expressed concern over the exploitation of the protests by some individuals to loot and destroy properties, stating that it is detrimental to the nation. He urged Nigerians to redirect their focus from national protests to state-level protests, emphasizing the need for accountability from state governors regarding the management of funds.
Margif praised President Tinubu’s efforts and commitment to achieving the New Hope Agenda, calling for collective support to build a better Nigeria.
