Inspite media reports of prompt payment of salaries by Kogi state government,no fewer than 100 academic and non academic staffs of Kogi state College of Education Ankpa have been denied monthly salaries, without reasons in the last one year.Observers times has revealed.

This is also arising from frequent complain of some civil servants whose salaries for over 48 months were not paid in the first term of Governor Yahaya Bello, spread across Ministries, Department and Agencies of the state.

Before the November 16 governorship election in Kogi, Primary School teachers exclaimed over their areas of salaries span for 39 months, not paid by the state government, appeal for goverrment intervention.

Also, soon after the 2019 election, staffers of the state Radio kogi, employed or confirmed in 2015 and have served the organsition for over 15 years, were unlawfully excluded from salary schedule of the state government without benefits.

Kogi state government under Yahaya Bello washed off it’s hands of not owing any workers of the state a dime in the last four years.

The Deputy Governor, Edward Onoja claimed that the clamour of owing arears of 38/40 months salaries in the media was politically motivated, saying it was untrue to say the state is owing any workers in the services of the state.

Some of the workers illegaly retired and benefits not paid, had gone through the industrial court and won their cases, preparing to take legal measures for the state penchant at not honouring court orders.

The state government at the twilight of its first term had announced to the world of not owing any workers in the state salaries and arrears.

The affected workers have been in the services of the state College of Education for over 15 years and despite non payment of salaries have been working in the last one year.

A further visit to the state accountant general office proved abortive as his whereabout could not be ascertain, with the workers of his office scampering for safety, for fear of losing their jobs, when they grant interviews.

Some of the staffers of the College affected confirmed the ugly developement and pleaded for anonymity, appealing to the state government to come to their aid as family men and women.

Some staff of the state University Anyigba ,State Polytechnic Lokoja and State college of Education Kabba were also not left out in this quagmire.
