Member of the 2015 PDP Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign Council, Opeyemi Duke has declared his intention to vie for Kogi West Vice Chairmanship position in the party. Speaking in Abuja on Monday, Duke said he want to occupy the vacant position so he can work with other leaders to “reposition, re-organise and make the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) a “digital party.” The vibrant and committed party member said he has been well positioned for the task as one of the most trusted party faithful. Duke stated that his aspiration will carve a niche for the youth constituency in the party as the State Vice Chairman. “I believe that with the zeal that we have used in the past to work for the party, we will engender renewed public confidence and support for our party at all levels,” he said. Duke appealed to the leaders to support him, insisting that he has been loyal and faithful to the party for years and should be allowed to reconcile all well meaning and vibrant youth back to the party ahead of the 2023 general elections. He assured that the principle of honesty and commitment to party rules and regulation will be upheld under his watch as the Vice chairman. “As I present myself for the position of the Kogi West Vice Chairman of our great party, it is pertinent to reflect on what PDP stands for. The PDP is a people oriented party which represents the collective will of all the members in the state.
“I can assure you that when elected as the Kogi West Vice Chairman of the party, we will reposition and re-organise the party based on its philosophy of social democracy, which basically means people-oriented, membership driven and mass-based political organisation. “Again, I appeal to all to come out and support this divine ambition of hope for the younger generation to come. Thank you” The position became vacant following the death of Barr. Taiwo Kola-Ojo whole slumped while playing tennis in January.
