In the ongoing Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, a witness of Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of over voting. The witness, Mallam Abdullahi Tijani from Okene, presented the BVAS report during the hearing, which revealed discrepancies in the voting figures announced by the electoral officer on election day.
When asked to define over voting by counsel to the petitioner PA Akubo, Abdullahi explained that it occurs when the number of accreditations is less than the total votes cast. Another witness, Dauda Sunday Otaru from Okehi, also confirmed over voting as the figures on the results sheets differed from the BVAS data.
A male witness at the tribunal further supported these claims, prompting the counsel to Ododo to call for a female witness. However, upon the arrival of the female witness and before she could take her oath, the counsel rejected her and requested an adjournment.
The tribunal subsequently adjourned the case for continuation of the hearing on Monday.
