Tension and fears in Ajaokuta over inflows of Fulani herdsmen into Ajaokuta community OBSERVERS TIMES learnt,
On Friday 21 February, at about 10:30am, two trailer loads of able men numbering about 430 arrived FFN Estate, Ajaokuta steel township. The residents of the estate raise alarm and alerted the company management, who in turn alerted the AREA COMMANDER, DPO, and men of the DSS all residents in Ajaokuta.
Security agents were promptly mobilized to the scene where all those Intruders were rounded up and were interrogated.
They said, they were actually coming from Taraba state to come to settle here in Ajaokuta.
Upon further interrogation, they presented allocation documents duely issued by HRH OHI of Eganyi chairman AJAOKUTA LGA Traditional council after the payment of N2.5m to OHI.
The allocation and authorization paper is with the DPO Ajaokuta division till date.
The former sole administrator Hon Mustapha Akaba and OHI were promptly invited and arrived the scene.
OHI agreed to the issuance of the allocation and claimed that they told him they were only 4 people in number seeking for settlement, not knowing they are over 400 in numbers.
The bandits alleged their colleauges arrived Ajaokuta earlier in January having paid similar amount of money to HRH OHI of Eganyi.
They former administrator Hon Mustapha Akaba quickly ban the use of phone camera and ordered that the issue should be treated confidentially.

The bandits were later prevail upon to climbed unto the trailers and were drove off along Lokoja road. Today,, residents of Ajaokuta steel township are living in perpetual fears, having had series of fulanis raping residents and robbery attacks within the estate.
Further investigation later that the arrival of those bandits were in series.
That earlier in January, Same OHI collected same amount of money and 2 trailers load same people were drop off at the CERAMIC Companies along Niger bridge, today some of these bandits found their way accros River Niger and are kidnapping freely along Itobe-Idah axis and Itobe and Anyigba roads. Some of them are hibernating around Upake, Ogodo and Adogu communities with daily kidnapping of resident.
The area in question, chief Ananyiwa of Upake community is very helpless.
The OHI of Eganyi should be investigated for kidnapping and Insecurities around Lokoja Ajaokuta axis, Ajaokuta Okene road, and Ajaokuta Itobe Idah Anyigba axis. He is arbitrarily settling foreigners in Ajaokuta LGA for personal benefit.
