Kogi State ready to fire 700 civil servants across the 21 local.

THE Kogi State Government has drawn up a list of over 700 civil servants across the 21 local government areas of the state for sacking, investigation by our correspondent has revealed.
It was reliably gathered that the lists consists of those earlier pardoned by the government during last screening.
The exercise designed to weed out ghost workers and other unintended beneficiaries lasted over three years.
Already, some of the lists sighted by our correspondent revealed that Yagba East had 70 workers to be laid off.
While Selina has the highest number with 150 civil servants scheduled for sacking, other local government areas have their own lists.
A source said, “The decision was arrived at one of the weekly State Executive meetings, where it was agreed that the screening had not yielded the desired results of reducing the monthly wage bill of the state put at N2.6bn.”
However, when our correspondent contacted the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, he said, “The government has no plan to retrench. The governor is committed to protecting the interest of the Kogi workers.”
