Kogi State Governorship: Omala Lawmaker Proposes Rotational Formula

The lawmaker representing Omala state constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Yahaya, has called for rotational governorship among the three senatorial districts in the state.

Yahaya made the call after he was conferred with an award of excellence in Lokoja on Monday by The Nigeria Post Newspaper for his outstanding representation in the Assembly.

According to him, “It is very important for us to remain united as one. The 2023 election showed that all the three senatorial districts needs each other to govern the state. Rotational governorship is very critical and important as no tribe is superior to others . That is why there should be zoning arrangements amongst the three Senatorial district.

“I want to use this medium to call on the leadership at the state level, elder statesmen, irrespective of party differences that there is need for all of us from the three senatorial district to sit on a round table and deliberate the way forward. By doing so, Kogi State will be better.”

The highly elated lawmaker who in his constituency has transformed both the health, education and other sectors in Omala local government area of Kogi state noted that the award will spur him to do more for his people.

“I never knew that the Nigeria Post newspaper has been watching me closely on the good work I am doing in my Constituency.

“It is a call for more work for my people. I am dedicating this award to the entire people of Omala State Constituency, Kogi State and Nigeria in general for always believing in me to give them true dividend of democracy. I promised not to let them them,” he said.

While fielding questions from journalists the political development in Kogi State, Hon. Yahaya congratulated Kogites for celebrating the 33rd of the creation of the state.

“I want to also use this medium to congratulate his excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on his victory at the supreme court of Nigeria. I am calling on the opposition to join hands with him to take Kogi State to the next level,” he added.
