The Kogi State Government has been criticized for prioritizing burial ceremonies as part of its governance agenda. According to Ibrahim Mohammed, an APC youth leader from Anyigba, the government’s focus on attending burial ceremonies and 8-day prayers is misplaced, especially when considering the dire developmental challenges facing the state.
Mohammed lamented that poverty, lack of good hospitals, poor hygiene, and lack of affordable healthcare and food are contributing to untimely deaths in the state. He expressed disappointment that the government, led by Okala and Deputy Governor Joel, seems to be more concerned with attending burial ceremonies than addressing these pressing issues.
The APC youth leader also accused Okala, who claims to be the leader of the ruling APC in Kogi East, of hypocrisy and amassing wealth for himself and his family while neglecting the needs of the people. He called on the Governor Usman Ododo to scrutinize Okala’s activities and limit his “eye-service” to the government.
