Umar who picked his N22.5 million naira worth expression of interest and nomination forms at the party national secretariat in Abuja, Monday claimed that the call for the use of the direct primary mode was in line with the yearning and aspirations of majority of the supporters of the party in Kogi state.
Mohammed, a trained Engineer who retired from the Nigerian national petroleum corporation (NNPC) however said he was not afraid of contesting for the ticket of the party under the indirect primaries mode adopted by the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole led national working committee (NWC) of the APC.
Mohammed promised to put his wealth of experience in both the private and public sectors ensure good governance in Kogi state.
Stating that he would ensure equitable distribution of resources across the state, he remarked that it was unfortunate that Kogi state is yet to reap from the abundance of natural and mineral resources that abound in the state.
Saying he was privy to the seismic report on the discovery of oil in Ibaji axis of Kogi state in 1986, he promised to sponsor a Bill to the National Assembly aimed at ensuring that the people of Kogi state get a fair share of the revenue yield from the resources.
Mohammed who hails from Ankpa axis of the Kogi east geopolitical zone urged those aspiring for the governorship ticket of the party to step down for him in the interest of justice and fairness.
Said he: “This is not the first time I have found myself on terrain. I was there before now. This time around, Allah has brought me out. We all know what the system look like, how our people are suffering back home in Kogi state. The Issue here is restoration, peace development.
“We all see what is going on in Kogi state. This is the time to repair the place. I have come to repair the place. God wants me to come and remove the cries of the multitude. We don’t want guns and any form of thuggery or violence. Our party, the APC is for development.
“The manifesto of the party is enough for me to dwell on. I have gone through a lot of tutelage in the NNPC, in the federal ministry of Works as an Engineer. The wealth of experience in civil service and private sectors are enough. I am here to serve, not to govern.”
